Scientific Advisory Board for the National Action Plan on the Sustainable Use of Plant Protection Products Panels

The Scientific Advisory Board advises the Federal Government—in particular the responsible Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Home Affairs (BMLEH)—through scientific expert opinions and statements.

The Scientific Advisory Board is appointed by the BMLEH for a five year term. Its members serve in an honorary capacity and are independent of any directives.

The Advisory Board has in particular the following tasks:

  • Evaluating the NAP from a scientific point of view and developing proposals for its further development;
  • Preparing scientific expert opinions and statements on individual measures of the NAP;
  • Preparing scientific expert opinions and statements on the design of research, innovation, and funding programs related to the NAP;
  • Assessing crop- or sector-specific guidelines for integrated pest management with regard to their relevance and appropriateness.

The Administrative Office of the Advisory Board is located at the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE), NAP Secretariat.

The current Scientific Advisory Board has been in place since January 2024 and consists of experts from the fields of integrated pest management, agroecology/crop production, organic farming, water protection/drinking water, ecosystem/environmental toxicology, consumer safety, work safety/application safety of plant protection products, and agricultural economics.
