Forum NAP Panels

The Forum on the National Action Plan on Sustainable Use of Plant Protection Products (Forum NAP) is a panel of all interested parties within the plant protection sector.

Its purpose is to review the progress of the NAP and to draw up proposals for its further development. The Forum also serves as a platform for discussing current issues relating to plant protection policy at both national and European level. It is to be convened at least once a year. The Forum is organized by the Plant Protection and Plant Health Department at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity (BMLEH) , which is supported in this task by the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food and the Julius Kühn Institute.

The following interested parties are represented in the forum:

  • Consumer protection
  • Environment and nature protection
  • Agriculture, gardening and forestry
  • Plant protection product admission
  • Plant protection representatives of the of the German federal states (Länder)
  • Food surveillance and feed surveillance of the Länder
  • Food processing industry
  • Retail food trade
  • Plant protection product manufacturers
  • Plant protection product retail trade
  • Plant protection product research

Over the years, the Forum has passed more than 20 recommendations. These address various topics within the NAP, such as advisory services and decision-support systems, measures to protect water bodies and biodiversity, the need for action in the forestry sector, and NAP indicators.
